What is recorded here

New site identified by John Cronin & Associates (JCA) under Licence No. 16E0127 prior to wind farm development in Grousemount, Kilgarvan, Co. Kerry by ESB Wind Development Ltd. The remains of a large sub-rectangular hut site located c.90m east of the main spine road between BP-F and T.11 at ITM grid co-ordinate 508853, 568715. The structure is situated on a level terrace of ground with steep upward slopes to south, west and northeast. It is formed by multiple coursed dry-stone walls of random rubble construction which are up to 1.2m high. The walls are between 0.3m and 0.5m wide and enclose an internal area measuring 3.5m east to west by 3.2m north to south. The structure is built into the hillside to the east and has an entrance to the west. A curving wall forms an annex to the north of the entrance which encloses an area measuring 4m east to west by 2m north to south. The wall of the annex is one to two courses or 0.3m to 0.5m high.
