Architectural fragment in Emly

In the NE gable of the community hall called Halla Naomh Ailbhe, which was formerly the RC church. The upper portion of an ogee-headed window (dims. 0.54m x 0.4m) of 16th or 17th-century-date. It is chamfered with cusped spandrels and has a chamfered hood (L 0.6m) dressed with punch tooling. It may have come from the medieval cathedral (TS065-013002-) or may be a window head from one of the unlocated castles within Emly. In its present location it acts as the head of a rough stoup which has been inserted into the thickness of the NE gable. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 13 May 2014
