Post-mounted cast-iron post box, installed c.1940. Rounded cap having raised P & T insignia embossed to front (north-west) and maker's mark to rear.
A notable example of early twentieth-century street furniture, displaying a simplicity and clarity of design typical of its time. Its functional nature is enhanced by neatly cast lettering. The use of Gaelic script is indicative of a date of installation after the foundation of the State.
