Creagh Cottage

Detached three-bay two-storey house, built c.1820, having two-storey addition to side (north-west) elevation. Pitched slate roof with timber clad eaves course on carved timber corbels, having rendered diagonally placed square-profile chimneystacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. Slate hanging to front (south-west) elevation, rendered walls elsewhere. Diminishing camber-headed window openings with limestone sills, having nine-over-six and six-over-six pane timber sliding sash windows. Square-headed door opening with moulded render surround. Timber doorcase with Ionic colonettes and sidelights flanking double-leaf timber panelled door with brass door furniture, having overlight above. Rubble limestone enclosing wall having render coping and single-leaf cast-iron gate.

This house is an attractive and modestly scaled structure, displaying balanced proportions. It retains much of its original form along with important salient features and materials. The retention of slate hanging on the front elevation greatly enlivens the facade and adds character to both the house and village streetscape.
