What is recorded here

Freestanding cast-iron pillar post box, erected c.1950, with raised lettering to neck and dentillated cornice to cap.
This attractive piece of street furniture at the intersection of Gray Street and Pimlico is a good example of mass-produced cast-iron. It replaced an earlier post box, located at the east end of Gray Street at its junction with Meath Street. While manufactured without monogram or makers mark the box does include some ornamentation comprising raised lettering ‘Next Delivery’, a moulded handle and a dentillated cornice.

Explorer Tom House on Leeson Street Lower is a Georgian townhouse from 1800, now living its best apartment life. The brickwork is solid even if some bits are missing. Grab a shot of that doorcase for me!

Sacred Heart of JesusWayside shrine · 74 ydComputer-made picture

Children's playground93 ydComputer-made picture

Uckg Help CentreMalt house · 122 yd

Explorer Tom Uckg Help Centre in County Dublin was once a malthouse but now preaches the gospel from a limestone shell. Built by Phoenix Brewery in 1899, it's all about that yellow brick contrast. The catslide roof is doing its best to look important. Just listen for the sermon.

KearnsHouse · 157 yd

Explorer Tom Kearns on The Coombe looks like it’s trying to sell its soul to a cow who wants to buy it. It’s got shopfronts that have seen better days, but the charm is undeniable. Stand where the cow would stand and wink at it.

South Earl Street Health CentreSurgery/clinic · 167 yd

Explorer Tom South Earl Street Health Centre used to register births, deaths, and marriages, which is a lot of paperwork for one building. If it were a person at a wedding, it would be the uncle who spills wine on everyone. Your move.

The LamplighterHouse · 171 yd

Explorer Tom The Lamplighter in The Coombe is a Victorian pub with stucco work so fancy it’s basically showing off. It probably bragged about surviving a storm while you were inside hiding from the rain. Lo, behold the corner!

Prison in Unknown TownlandPrison · 181 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Prison in Dublin on Earl Street South has strong opinions about modern building insulation. It thinks they’re all soft and weak. Dare you to say hello to it out loud, just see if it flinches or ignores you.

Tannery in Unknown TownlandTannery · 185 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Tannery in Dublin is basically a giant leather mystery box that refuses to open. I bet it still smells like regret and old cow skin. Look up, because the best bit is always higher than your nose can reach.

Weaver's Park playgroundChildren's playground · 292 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Weaver's Park playground in County Dublin is likely weaving in and out of reality. Access is unknown, so you might get tangled up in the ropes. Go see if the weaver is still working or just taking a coffee break.

European Pear523 yd

Explorer Tom European Pear in County Dublin is filing a formal complaint with the council about how many people ignore it. It’s got all the fruit and none of the attention it deserves, frankly. Have a wander and a wonder at this neglected beauty.

Croppies Acre MemorialMemorial · 984 yd

Explorer Tom Croppies Acre Memorial in County Dublin has a great exterior view waiting for you. It’s a memorial, so keep it dignified, but also check out the surroundings. The whole place looks like it’s posing for a history book cover.
