What is recorded here

In grassland, 460m N of the Mulkear River and approx. 300 W of the public road R506. No monument is depicted at this location on the 1838 OS 6-inch map. A semi-circular shaped rise of ground (approx. dims. NW-SE 22m x NE-SW 15m) is depicted at this location on the 1897 OS 25-inch map. On this map the raised area of ground is intersected by a post-1700 field boundary at N. A trackway is visible 23m to SE. Digital Globe imagery taken 2011-13 shows no surface trace of any monument at this location. Google Earth imagery taken 28/06/2018 shows the field recently planted with no surface remains visible of any monument. Doubtful antiquity, may be a post-1700 feature. A Google Earth orthoimage taken 06/02/2018 shows faint outline of possible earthwork with relict field system to N. See attached Google Earth orthoimages taken 28/06/2018 and 06/02/2018 Compiled by: Fiona Rooney and Martin Fitzpatrick Date of upload: 9 June 2020
