Nicholastown Castle

Castle

What is recorded here

West of Clonmel, a broken corner of a four-storey tower still stands beside a small cliff, belonging to the Keating family during the 17th century. The missing walls likely enclosed a bawn where people lived, worked and watched the land, while the surviving stone marks the edge of that forgotten room. Buried beneath a working farm, the castle has stopped being a monument and become a neighbour, waiting for someone to remember its shape.
