David ff linge held the ruinous castle in Derrygrath Lower during the 1640s, yet no exact marker remains for the structure today. The building has vanished from local memory, leaving behind a gap where stone and shadow should stand. Its absence makes the townland feel incomplete, as if a chamber were torn from the side of the land.

According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) in 'Lower deragrath' there 'stands an old ruinous castle' which in 1640 was under the proprietorship of 'David ff linge of Clonmell. David flint of Clonmel held the castle at Derrygrath Lower in 1640; it is remembered as a ruinous site noted in the Civil Survey of 1654–5, reflecting landownership patterns during the Confederate Wars in Ireland.
