Situated on a slight rise in a level landscape. The motte is a circular flat-topped and grass-covered earthen mound (diam. of top 5m NNE-SSW; diam. of base 28m NNE-SSW; H 4.5m at S to 4.7m at N) defined by fosse that can be distinguished from the mound (at NNE: Wth of top 9m; int. D 1.2m; ext. D 0.5m) SSW-N-E. A subrectangular or diamond-shaped and grass-covered bailey (dims 62m ENE-WSW; 25m NNW-SSE) defined by a fosse or scarp (at SSE: Wth 5m; H 0.5m) is attached E-SSW. There is an entrance (Wth 6.5m) to the bailey at the S corner. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987).
