Moat

Situated on a gentle S-facing slope. It is described as a ‘Moat’ in gothic lettering on the OS 6-inch maps. This is a raised subcircular and grass-covered area (dims 31m NNW-SSE; 27m NE-SW) defined by a scarp (at NNW: Wth 6m; H 2m; at SSE: Wth 4.5m; H 2.5m). There are two grass-covered quarries inside the perimeter at NW and another at the centre. There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987).
