What is recorded here

Freestanding sandstone milestone, erected c.1840, close to Gransha Bridge on Ulster Canal, latter now disused. Round top to rectangular slab. Inscribed 'Charlemont 36 / Caledon 22 / Monaghan 11/ Clones 3 / Wattle Bridge 10'.
This milepost is a rare survivor along the Ulster Canal. Standing close to Gransha Bridge it adds significant context to the canal at this location and reminds the visitor of the once-important function of the canal as a transport corridor linking county Monaghan with Armagh, Fermanagh and Tyrone.

This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
