Yes. An underground passage in a Mid Cork ringfort, closed for at least sixty years and absent from the surface, belongs to the buried life of the field. The hole may have been a refuge, a boundary marker, a forgotten entrance or a trap for the careless. Its absence is the strange part: a whole place can disappear while the land above keeps pretending nothing is missing.

In centre of ringfort (8624). 'At approx centre is cave site. It is closed up and has been so within the memory of my informant (a man of 60 years). I have no doubt but that a cave exists here' (PJH). No visible surface trace. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
