Yes. The demand is a visible castle and the evidence is an empty field, so refusal is the only honest answer. I will not invent the history of Ballyburden More.
Modern house and farmyard stand on or near site of castle, of which there is no visible surface trace nor any local memory or tradition relating to it (PJH). According to Healy (1988, 18), 'seems to have been a castle of the Barretts'. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
