You can still drop a marble through the roof gap and hear it strike stone below. The passage ran sixty centimetres deep under the rath bank, perhaps linking two hidden rooms or carrying water past a boundary no longer visible. Whatever it did, someone cut it through living earth and covered it with lintel stone. They knew the ground could be made into a tunnel when temptation, fear or trade needed a way through.

Within an enclosure (GA086-233001-). A poorly preserved Man-made underground passage indicated by a rectangular depression (L 6.9m) running ENE-WSW. Some 4m ENE of this, an exposed roof lintel is visible. From a gap behind it, it is possible to see into an inaccessible chamber with a possible creep running off NNE end. The Man-made underground passage apparently ran under the bank of the rath, exiting at NE.
