What is recorded here
Nine chambers, thirty metres of roofed passage under a Cork ringfort. Ogham marks on the flags, twelve stones taken to UCC in 1920, three left behind. O'Kelly measured them in 1947: five, twelve, nine metres long, no wider than a man's span. Someone cut that far beneath a fortress and wrote on the ceiling.
In ringfort (CO055-007001-). Described by Barry (1890, 517) following discovery of ogham inscriptions on roof flags; twelve ogham stones removed to UCC in 1920; three remained on site (Power 1920, 12-17). Investigated by O'Kelly in 1947 (McCarthy 1977, 165-166) who recorded three earth-cut chambers. Chamber 1 (L 5.4m; Wth 1.06m; H 0.91m); rectangular in plan; long axis E-W; some roof flags in situ at E end. Chamber 2 (L 12.2m; Wth 0.91m; H 0.91m); subrectangular in plan; long axis N-S; unroofed. Chamber 3 (L 9.14m; Wth 1.21m; H 1.06m); runs N-S for 6m, then curves SE for 3m and is then collapsed; unroofed. Hollow with stone slab exposed visible on N side of wall in NW quadrant.
