Freestanding limekiln, built c.1860, now disused. Rubble stone walls with round-headed arch.
Set adjacent to a former quarry, this limekiln is an interesting reminder of the limestone processing which was undertaken in the area in the past. Limestone was burned in kilns to create lime for fertilisers, mortars and many other purposes, and kilns such as this one were once found throughout the countryside.
This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
