Indicated is a twenty-metre circular island in Dunrora Lough, built in the eighteenth century as a crannog-folly for a summerhouse. It hovers twenty metres from the Cavan shoreline, pretending to be an ancient dwelling while admitting it is merely a stage for pleasure. The lake keeps that childish boast intact, forcing visitors to wonder whether true magic requires believing the pretend is real.
