What is recorded here

Indicated as rectangular structure on 1842 OS 6-inch map, immediately N of canal lock (see 15257). Random-rubble walls encase core. Front elevation faces S; lintelled corbelled recess (H 1.6m; Wth 2.3m; D 2.5m). Top of kiln not visible as abandoned vernacular 3-bay, 1-storey house, with hipped corrugated iron roof, built on top of kiln. Kiln and house removed subsequent to visit; both probably associated with canal. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
