What is recorded here

Near the top of a gentle W-facing pasture slope in the grounds of Ballindoolin House. An overgrown, low, circular, flat-topped, earthen mound (diam. 18m; H 1.6m) is retained by a low dry-stone wall, and outer fosse (Wth 4-6m; D 0.1-0.2m) S-W. An inscribed plaque at S records 'This ancient mound was enclosed and planted by Christopher Bor Esq. A.D. 1760'. Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy Date of upload: 10 June 2011

A Neolithic passage tomb; likely dates to the 4th–3rd millennium BCE. Its construction and positioning suggest ritual or ceremonial significance, typical of early farming communities in the region.
