What is recorded here

Described in the Civil Survey (1654-6) as the 'walls of a castle onely standinge with a little Barbicon' (Simington 1934, vol. 2, 223). Sir John MaGrath is listed as proprietor in 1640 (ibid.). The OS Namebooks (c. 1840) refer to 'an old house adjoining the S side of Ballymackey old castle it seems to have been at one time a place of some account but it is now in a state of total ruins'. An Foras Forbartha refer to a possible addition to the tower house (TN021-023001) to form a H-shaped house (Craig 1972, 55). No visible remains.
