Holy well in Tullydonnell

Holy well

What is recorded here

According to information obtained from the landowner in 1967 'a pool in the corner of his field beside the old laneway was known as St. Patrick's well'. (SMR file) Compiled by: Claire Breen Date of upload: 4 July 2012
Linked to St. Patrick, the well is traditionally associated with the saint’s legendary 5th-century mission in Ireland, and such sites are often connected to healing or purification rituals in local folklore. Holy wells dedicated to St. Patrick were commonly visited for blessings, especially on Saint Patrick’s Day.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
