Not marked on any OS ed. Known locally as 'St Patrick's Well' (local information). It has been levelled in. Situated in low-lying marshy ground on the shore of Lough Oughter. A large enclosure known as 'The Graveyard Field' is situated c. 30m SW of well (CV019-031----). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). Linked to St Patrick, the well is traditionally associated with healing and purification, common attributes of wells dedicated to the patron saint in Irish folklore. The nearby "Graveyard Field" may suggest a historical ritual or burial connection, though details remain unclear.
