Historic building

Gable-fronted three-storey former corn-mill with attic, built c.1820, having four-bay four-storey kiln, drying floor, and store to south, and multiple-bay three-storey store to north, and with lean-to roofed engine house to north of mill, and lean-to addition to front (east) elevation of kiln and lean-to canopy to front of store. Pitched corrugated-iron roof to mill, pitched tiled roofs to store and kiln, rendered chimneystacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. Harl-rendered walls, with some coursed rubble stone visible, and having render plinth course, render string course over first floor of store to north. Square-headed window openings throughout, with timber fittings, some pivot windows and some latticed casement windows. Square-headed door openings with timber battened doors. Segmental-headed door opening to front of mill having double-leaf timber battened door and boarded fanlight. Cylindrical cast-iron flue stack under canopy to front of store.

This substantial former mill building is enhanced by the presence of various kiln and store buildings which contribute to the overall heritage value of the site. It remains largely intact, retaining its original form and fabric as well as much of the machinery to the interior. It makes a strong impact on the landscape.
