Historic building

Detached single-bay single-storey rubble stone outbuilding with half-attic, dated 1876, on a corner site with segmental-headed carriageway, and seven-bay single-storey wing to south-west. Now disused. Pitched slate roofs over timber construction with clay ridge tiles, lime mortice, and no rainwater goods on squared rubble stone eaves. Random rubble stone walls with lime mortar, and remains of unpainted lime render over. Square-headed window openings with no sills, lintels, and remains of timber fittings. Square-headed door openings (including to first floor side (north-east) elevation) with lintels, and timber boarded doors. Segmental-headed carriageway with squared rubble stone voussoirs, date stone/keystone, and painted replacement corrugated-iron door, c.1975. Road fronted on a corner site with grass verge to front.

An attractive building of some vernacular importance, as suggested by the informal arrangement to the openings, and the construction in unrefined locally-sourced materials. Although now apparently disused, the retains its original form and massing, with much of the original fabric intact. Positioned on a corner site, the building makes a prominent and pleasing impact on the visual appeal of the streetscape.
