What is recorded here
A large rectangular graveyard (KE079-026002-) situated on gently sloping land between Slievagh mountain and the Ferta river at S. The extent of the modern graveyard appears to have obliterated any other early features which may have existed on this site, including a possible leacht recorded here in the early 1840s (OSL). A handled wooden vessel of Medieval date was discovered buried in the graveyard in the 1940s (NMI 1945:182).
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 937. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
