Galláin is a rectangular standing stone in West Cork, rising 1.17 metres above pasture on a natural rise with its long axis pointing east to west. Sixty metres southwest, a five-stone circle waits in the grass, suggesting the separate stones once belonged to one crowded place where people gathered to mark seasons, lose boundaries, or speak to what does not answer. The stone still stands because someone set it there when the land was young enough to believe witness mattered.
