Baugorm Castle belonged to Clan Dermot MacCarthy and stood on an east-facing slope above County Cork. By 1842 it had collapsed into ruins, and even those stones have vanished beneath pasture. The land keeps the shape of a lost fortress, hiding a castle that once watched the eastern horizon.

Baugorm Castle was held by the Clan Dermot MacCarthy, an influential Gaelic Irish family, during the medieval period. It is remembered for its strategic location and as an example of early Irish castle architecture associated with the MacCarthy dynasty.
