Forge or smithy in Ardglassan put a brick arch and smartly cut stone around the entrance to its rough stone walls. A horse arriving for shoes could be forgiven for checking whether it had accidentally booked the wedding package.

Detached gable-fronted single-bay single-storey former forge, built c. 1890, now disused. Rubble stone walls. Timber battened doors set in segmental-arched opening with brick and ashlar dressings. Timber windows with ashlar dressings.

This simple forge is enhanced by the textural variation created by the rubble walls, ashlar surrounds and brick arch. Located close to Ardglassan cottages, this forge contributes to the historic fabric of the group.
