Filling pump or station in Carlanstown has replaced its pumps, but the old ‘Petrol Diesel’ sign still holds court on its curved post. The new lads do the pumping; himself leans over them, claiming he taught them everything.

This filling pump sign, inscribed 'Petrol Diesel' is an interesting addition to the urban fabric of Carlanstown. It retains its original cast-iron post and sign. Mid twentieth-century features such as this are becoming less common in the streetscape and surviving originals such as this should be protected.
