The White House

Detached four-bay two-storey house, built c.1820, with projecting porch. Roughcast rendered walls with render quoins. Hipped slate roof with rendered chimneystacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. Timber sash windows with stone sills. Timber door and overlight. Corrugated-iron outbuilding to rear. Roughcast rendered outbuilding to south.

The form and scale of this house make a positive contribution to the streetscape. The modest façade of the house is enhanced by the render detailing, particular the porch detailing. Two houses of similar design and form are located to the south. It forms part of the of the planned design of Carlanstown, set on the wide village street, obeying the straight street line.
