Fairy fort in Scartnamuck: a 37.9 m earthen ring, 1.4 m high, overlooking Castlenalact Lake. People may have lived there before fields and fences took the shape for their own use. The lake still shows the hand that dug it, even when the name has become a joke about fairies.

In pasture, overlooking Castlenalact Lake to SE. Roughly circular area (37.9m N-S; 35m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (H 1.4m); external fosse (D 0.6m) to S and SE. Bank stone-faced and incorporated into field fence system to E; topped by stone wall to W; gap to E. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
