Fairy fort in Gurteenbeha: a levelled circular bank about twenty-seven metres across on a gentle north-facing slope in County Cork. Grass grows differently along the hidden line of the rampart, marking the fort even though soil and pasture have smoothed it. The shape still appears in aerial photography as a faint circular soilmark, preserving the outline of a place people once built, used, and then forgot.

In pasture, on gentle N-facing slope. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 25m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; differential growth indicates line of levelled bank enclosing circular area (c. 27m E-W). Circular enclosure visible as soilmark of bank in aerial photograph (GSIAP, W407). Recorded by Bowman (1934, 67) as levelled single-ramparted fort (diam. c. 28yd) on W. O'Keeffe's land. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
