What is recorded here
Situated on S face of a high hill in grassland, with excellent views from E-S-W. The townland boundary with Larkinstown is 10m to W, while the levelled field fence which forms the boundary with Down townland intersected the E-W perimeter of the monument. A small sub-circular shaped area (approx. diam. 22m N-S; 20m E-W) enclosed by a slight earthen bank and a wide deep fosse. The bank is best preserved from NE-ESE, elsewhere it is fragmentary and almost completely levelled. There is an entrance gap (Wth 2m) and causeway at SSE. Traces of cultivation ridges are visible running NNE-SSW across the interior. Adjoining the monument on the N is a rectangular annexe (approx. dims. 6m N-S: 7m E-W) enclosed by a low earthen bank and external fosse. The E side of this annexe appears to have been levelled by a later field bank which crosses the rath fosse at NNE and continues to the N away from the site.
