Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballinlyny

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

No visible mound or ditch remains in Ballinlyny, though a thirty-five-metre embanked circle stood on that southern slope when surveyed in 1841. The fort has been levelled into ordinary pasture, leaving behind a name and a absent shape rather than a boundary the body can touch.
In pasture, on gentle S-facing slope. Monument, depicted as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 35m) on 1841 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled. No trace of monument evident in field of tall grass. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
