Enclosure in Lurganboy — Report the wrong picture

What is recorded here

Thirty metres of forgotten wall circle Lurganboy, perhaps a levelled ringfort now visible only when crops grow unevenly. The land has swallowed the stone and timber, but it still shapes life above, proving that enclosure does not require a gap for an door.

The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Circular enclosure (max. diam. c. 30m) showing as cropmark on aerial photograph (ACAP), possibly the remains of a levelled ringfort (Buckley 1987, 20-1).
