What is recorded here

A small rectangular field is named 'The Rath' on an 1839 manuscript map by Brownrigg and Longfield in the National Library of Ireland (Ms. 21. F 36 (83-130) map 127). Located mid-way down a short, moderately steep, S-facing pasture slope, overlooking wet, boggy ground to the S. No visible surface traces survive. The rectangular shape indicated on the map suggests a possible moated site; however, the field might have acquired the name because it contained a ringfort.
