Enclosure in Ardfintan

In grassland, on SW-facing slope. A very poorly preserved subcircular enclosure (N-S c. 62m) defined by a very low bank, best preserved from N through E to SE. A gap at NW may be original. A field wall cuts the monument at NW and SE, and a section to W of this has been almost levelled. The garden of an adjacent bungalow also intrudes at SE. The OS Letters (O'Flanagan 1927, Vol. 1, 163) record the tradition that St Fursa's father lived in 'a stone fort or caher' in this td.; this may refer to this monument or the ringfort (GA041-001-) c. 250m to NE.
