Cloghanower Castle in ruins — Report the wrong picture

Cloghanower Castle stands as a ruined tower house on a low mound in County Galway, its southwest wall stretching 9.1 metres while the remaining returns reach three storeys. Inside the second floor, a narrow stone vault springs from the chamber, possibly supporting a latrine passage that dropped waste into the pasture below. The structure still holds an angled bartizan at its southern corner, watching the undulating land where a church and standing stone wait further southeast.

On a low mound in low-lying undulating pastureland. A poorly preserved tower: only SW wall (L 9.1m) and the returns of NW and SE walls survive to a height of three storeys. There is an intramural chamber/passage in SW wall on 2nd floor. Immediately adjoining this, at the same level, are the springings of a narrow stone vault running NW-SE: possibly to support a latrine passage between 2nd/3rd floors. A doorway in S corner on 1st floor probably gives access to the angled bartizan which is visible externally on this corner. All the windows are rectangular with flat heads. A church (GA056-055001-) lies c. 280m to SE and a possible standing stone (GA056-054002-) 35m, also to SE.
