Edmondsbury House, County Laois

What is recorded here

Edmondsbury House in Newtown waited about 250 years before adding a wing, and then only managed one storey. That is an Irish householder’s ‘I’ll get round to it’ carried through to its terrifying conclusion.

Detached five-bay two-storey early-Georgian house, c. 1740. Extended, c. 1990, comprising three-bay single-storey wing.
