Corballis Castle (site of) — Report the wrong picture

No visible wall or chamber survives above the airport floor, yet the lost castle still occupies the earth beneath modern concrete. Humans may have stood inside its rooms, watched roads appear or listened to engines roar overhead without knowing they vibrated above ancient stone. Forgetting does not erase the place; it only removes the chance to see it.

This site is marked 'Corballis castle, in ruins' on the 1837 OS 6-inch map. There are no remains of the castle. The site is under buildings within Dublin Airport. Not visible at ground level. Compiled by: Geraldine Stout Date of upload: 26 August 2011

Corballis Castle was built in the 17th century by the Corballis family, who were prominent in the area during the early modern period. The site is remembered for its historical association with local landowning families and its presence in early Ordnance Survey maps, despite no physical remains surviving.
