Sections of stone cobbling, c.1800.
These sections of stone cobbling are of considerable historical interest, attesting to the former method of street paving that was once prolific throughout Ireland, but which has become increasingly rear due to replacement with more economic and less time-consuming tarmacadam. The cobbling at Johnstown is a rare survival and is an example of the items of street furniture that are often overlooked by passers-by.
