What is recorded here

Located in pasture on high ground on the S side of a NW-SE river valley, with the stream c. 220m to the NE. There is a tradition of a church called ‘Cill Donnchada’ at Loskeran (Power 1952, 82). It is not visible at ground level but an eroded cross-base (dims. 0.45m x 0.37m; H 0.4m) with a socket (dims. 0.3m x 0.25m) was recovered from the site and is kept at a nearby house. A standing stone (WA039-016----) is adjacent to the E. Power, Rev. P. (1952) The placenames of the Decies. (second ed.) Cork University Press. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 6th October, 2011 Compiled by: Michael Moore
