Church

What is recorded here

Bowman (1934, 148) recorded church site and burial ground (14139) on a hill top in Mr Geoffrey O'Sullivan's land; 'A rectangular grass-covered mound, c. 8 yards by 6 yards, marks the church site...An old road - not used now - leads to the church site'. Geoffrey O'Sullivan's land surrounded Knockilly Ho. Location of church site and burial ground is known by present landowners but permission to inspect site was refused. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
