Knockordan and Mooresfort still hide a burnt castle and little bawn described in 1654 as wanting repair. John Magrath and Thomas Baker held the land when the ruin stood, yet no one has since pointed to the exact stones. The place escapes because memory and ownership both became tangled, leaving only a ghost shape in the field.

According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) in 'Knockordane', which was under the proprietorship of ‘Sr John Magrath of Allyvollane Irish Papist Thomas Baker’ in 1640, ‘Upon the s[ai]d lands stands a bournt castle with a little Bawne wanting repayre' (Simington 1934, vol. 2, 60).
