Kilcolman castle vanished into legend before it vanished into soil, leaving behind only a field name and a refusal to be pinned down. Its stones may have stood until the 1920s, but even then they resisted description, as if the castle had spent centuries practicing disappearance. What remains is a gap shaped like a building: a borderland between memory and invention where the land keeps its secrets the way castles once kept their walls.

Bowman (1934, 354) mentions castle here, about which 'no accurate information could be procured'. Remains said to have survived until 1920s (ibid.). According to local information, site located in "castle field", c. 800m N of Rosnalee House on W side of stream, but exact location within field uncertain.
