What is recorded here

Castle is a circular ringwork in Annesgift, County Tipperary, still standing beside the Clashawley river. Its wide clay bank, narrow fosse and outer ridge form a small defended chamber in low woodland, perhaps built for watchfulness, storage or local authority. People may have lived there, argued there or simply passed it without remembering. The stones remain quiet while the river keeps moving around them.
