Castle

Situated close to the summit of a low rise. Described as a ruined castle and the property of James Walsh of Little Island (WA010-008----) in 1640 (Simington 1942, 165). This is a rectangular gabled house (dims. c. 15.5m NW- SE; c. 8m NE-SW) of three storeys with five surviving chimney stacks. It was modernised in the 19th century and is still occupied. It retains three double-light, round-headed windows, probably 16th century in date, a plain rectangular light and traces of a slight base-batter. Simington, R. C. (ed.)
