Caherbewly

Situated on the edge of the NW-SE ridge of Knigh Hill with a steep drop to NE. A roughly circular area (diam. 45m N-S) enclosed by a stone wall (Wth 5.4m; ext. H 1.4m) which has largely collapsed. There is no entrance feature visible, though Grace (1979, 10) has suggested it was in the SW quadrant. An L-shaped stone foundation in the interior was noted in an inspection of the site in 1985 (FitzPatrick 1985). The interior and parts of the enclosing wall are very overgrown with trees and scrub. A ruinous limekiln is located c. 4m SE of the site; stone from the cashel was possibly utilised in its construction.
