Single-arch stone road-over-railway bridge, built c. 1880. Squared-and-snecked limestone walling to spandrels and parapet, ashlar string course and ashlar coping to parapet. Segmental-headed arch, rock-faced voussoirs, flanking engaged rock-faced pilasters. Bitmac surface to road.
This masculine bridge, spanning the former Great Northern Railway line, now the main Dublin-Belfast line, stands as testament to the architects, engineers and stone masons who built the Great Northern Railway. Built in traditional construction methods it is typical in style to late-Victorian industrial building and the varied stone treatments show the skills of the stone masons involved.
