Indicated on the Down Survey (1655-6). Built by Pierce Fitzgerald and demolished by Cromwell (Anon. 1908, 269). No visible trace. On site of the ruins of Belan House which have also been levelled in the 1960s (SMR File). Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy

Pierce Fitzgerald built Belan House in the 17th century, and it was later demolished during the Cromwellian conquest of Ireland. It is remembered due to its mention in historical surveys and its association with the political and military conflicts of the period.

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
